A press release from the hospital said the first team comprising Dr. Jyothi Serrao, Dr. Suresh R. and Dr. Swaroop N. will leave Bangalore on Sunday to Patna. From there, the team will go to Supaul district and work in the area around Latuna. The team will work along with international and local agencies, including the Catholic Relief Services, according to the release. The first team would remain in Bihar for 10 days before returning to Bangalore, the release said. 30 volunteersThe Disaster Management Unit at St. John’s has more than 30 volunteers from among their doctors and nurses who have signed up to provide their services in Bihar. More teams would be sent to the area based on the assessment that was being done there by the relief agencies. Accessibility to the distant villages in the flood-hit zone is an area of concern and as soon as requests arrive for more teams to be sent, doctors from the hospital will fly out to Bihar.
