BANGALORE: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested 10 persons for allegedly manufacturing and selling illicit liquor. The police recovered 98 boxes containing illicit liquor and 3,000 litres of rectified spirit, among other items. On a tip-off, the CCB sleuths stopped two vehicles — a van and a car — near Jayanna Circle in Rajarajeshwari Nagar. The police found that Jayarame Gowda, (45), Shivakumar (28) and R. Swaminathan (65) were transporting spirit, labels and bottle caps illegally in the vehicles. RaidThe police questioned the accused and raided a farmhouse at Manganadoddi in Anekal taluk and recovered bottles containing illicit liquor. They also recovered spirit and other material used for preparing the illicit liquor. Factory raidedThe police also raided a factory in Sunkadakattee, where the bottle caps were being manufactured. ProcurementThe police found that the accused were procuring spirit from Amrut Distillery on Mysore Road and from Lingaraj. Investigation is on to find the places where the accused allegedly supplied the liquor in Bangalore and other districts. AccusedThe names of the other accused were given as Santosh (20), Prashant (19), Hanumanthappa (24), Hanumant T.M. (23), Nagabhushan (50), Prakash (48) and Surendra (52).
