Journalist killed in road accident

SHIMOGA: Shilpashree, a journalist hailing from Shimoga, who was working with the Sunday Indian weekly, was killed in a road accident in Bangalore on Friday night.

According to reports received here, Ms. Shilpashree, who was riding a two-wheeler, died on the spot after her vehicle was knocked down by a van near Wilson Garden. The accident occurred when she was returning home after work.

Ms. Shilpashree, who had done postgraduation in journalism and communication from Kuvempu University, had worked here with the Kannada Prabha for sometime before joining the Sunday Indian recently.

A native of Beluru in Sagar taluk, Ms. Shilpashree is survived by her parents Narahari and Jyothi. MLA for Sagar Belugu Gopalakrishna, Vice-Chancellor of the university B.S. Sherigara, Chairman of the Post Graduate Department of Journalism and Communication at the university Rajendra Chenni and lecturers of the departmenthave condoled the death of Ms. Shilpashree.
