NAINI TAL: The Uttarakhand High Court has directed the State Government to file an action taken report on illegal constructions on encroached land at Auli, a winter games destination in Uttarkashi district. Situated at an altitude of 3,049 metres, Auli is one of the most popular winter games destinations in the country. The Indian Olympic Association has decided to hold the SAF Games in 2009 at Auli. Passing the order on a PIL, a Division Bench of Justice V. K. Gupta and Justice J. C. S. Rawat also asked the Government to file a status report by September 29 on the matter. Petitioner Rishi Prasad had submitted that due to government negligence illegal constructions had come up on encroached land for commercial purposes. - PTI
