Tension in village

ARIYALUR: Tension prevailed in Sripuranthan village after police used mild force to disperse a mob who pelted stones on a police vehicle. Residents of Kasankottai and Sripuranthan had a dispute over desilting the village tank, which the former claimed was being done without consulting them. On Saturday, police took representatives of two villages for peace talks to be held before the Revenue officials in Udayarpalayam. Suspecting arrests, some persons pelted stones on the police vehicle.
