The Magic Drum beats for children

Bangalore: The Magic Drum, a play in support of vulnerable children in Bangalore, is a complete city production. Adapted from stories by Sudha Murthy, the play is written and produced by Bangalore Little Theatre (BLT). It will be staged at Ranga Shankara between September 16 and 21. On September 30, the play will be staged at Ravindra Kalakshetra, before which there will be a “special gala” performance at the Royal Orchid Hotel on September 28.

The play is a collaborative effort between BLT and Dream a Dream Foundation. All proceeds from the play will go towards the foundation., a city-based non-governmental organisation, which has been working consistently in the direction of for empowerment of children through by providing diverse life skills training.

The Magic Drum is described as a “family entertainer” by the production team. With stories about a princess who thinks of herself as a bird, to coconuts that cost Rs. 1,000, the book has been well-received by children and the play hopes to do the same.
