Humpy faces Shen Yang
NEW DELHI: Favourite K. Humpy will take on China’s Shen Yang in the quarterfinals of the women’s World chess championship at Nalchik, Russia, on Sunday.
On Saturday, Shen Yang bounced back to surprise Russia’s Nadezhda Kosintseva 3.5-2.5. In the other quarterfinal from the same half, third seed Hou Yifan of China will play Lilit Mkrtchian, the Armenian who knocked out D. Harika. .
In the two quarterfinals from the top half of the draw, Anna Ushenina (Ukraine) faces Aleksandra Kosteniuk (Russia), while former World champion Antoaneta Stefanova (Bulgaria) meets Pia Cramling (Sweden).
