Topalov shocks Anand
NEW DELHI: World number one Viswanathan Anand crashed to a surprise 25-move loss to former World champion Veselin Topalov in the fourth round of the Grand Slam Final chess tournament at Bilbao, Spain, on Friday. On a day when all three boards produced decisive results, Magnus Carlsen and Levon Aronian joined Topalov in winning their games with white pieces. Topalov leads with eight points after scoring his second successive victory.
The results (fourth round): Veselin Topalov (Bul, 8) bt Viswanathan Anand (3); Magnus Carlsen (Nor, 7) bt Teimour Radjabov (Aze, 3); Levon Aronian (Arm, 5) bt Vassily Ivanchuk (Ukr, 3).
