Ganesh immersion starts

The immersion procession of

nearly 400 Ganesh idols started with great fervour

on Sunday

evening


Mahabubnagar: The immersion procession of nearly 400 Ganesh idols started with great fervour and devotion in Mahabubnagar on Sunday evening.

The various sizes and different shapes of Ganesh idols placed on illuminated vehicles were taken in processions after performing pujas for five days in specially erected pandals in their respective wards.

The youth welfare association members carried out the processions by singing bhajans and dancing to drumbeats.

The kollatum performed by the women members of Town Arya Vysya Association along the route attracted one and all.

Businesses closed

All the shops and business establishments remained closed and the public, including women and children gathered on either side of the roads to have a glimpse of decorated Ganesh idols.

The Ganesh Utsav Samithi of Palamoor welcomed the procession of different Ganesh idols at Clock Tower centre by establishing a special pandal.

Samithi members informed that all the big idols would be immersed in Krishna River at Beechpally, 80 kms away and the small ones would be immersed at Hanwada tank.

Mahabubnagar MP D. Vittal Rao, MLA Puli Veeranna, Municipal Chairperson Obedulla Kothwal, DCC president S. Prakash, Former MP and TDP leader A.P. Jithender Reddy, TDP District secretary Goverdhan Yadav and members of VHP and BJP participated in the immersion ceremony.

Police bandobust

Police made elaborate bandobust arrangements for smooth conduct of the processions.

Additional forces were deployed in view of the holy month of Ramzan being celebrated by Muslim community members.
