Revealing

The contents of the Bush administration letter are truly revealing. The Manmohan Singh government was either enjoying the bliss of ignorance or fooling the people. It is not that the revelations are new. But the way the UPA government dramatised the deal was unfortunate.

I feel cheated and deeply hurt. How could the Prime Minister mislead the nation on such a vital issue and commit it to a deal that will make us the slaves of the U.S.? I feel our country needs a leader like Vladimir Putin who can take on the U.S.

Varun Chhibber,

How can a sell-out of our interests, dignity, and security be called a deal? The Bush administration letter is not only a devastating blow to the nuclear deal but also a loss of the UPA government’s credibility to take up and promote ventures of mutual interest with foreign countries.

M.A. Hakeem,

Hyderabad

The Indo-U.S nuclear deal has proved the age-old adage “the believer is happy, the doubter is wise.” Those who believed the deal would be a huge gain for the nation were too happy to live in a false world of empty dreams. And those who questioned the deal have turned out to be worthy prophets. The Bush letter is an awful product of extreme arrogance, as its words unmistakably convey.

T.S. Pattabhi Raman,

The UPA government is misleading the nation on the language of the 123 agreement. It appears that the Opposition was right all along in its apprehension over the link between the 123 agreement and the Hyde Act. The government popularised the deal in a devastating manner and managed the numbers during the trust vote amid charges of horse-trading. Well, the day is not far before the government faces the biggest test of numbers.

Kshipra Kamlesh Uke & Shiv Shankar Das,

New Delhi
