dated September 9, 1958: Food position in Madras

Giving a picture of the food situation in Madras State in the Legislative Assembly on September 8, Mr. M. Bhaktavatsalam, Home Minister, who is also in charge of Food and Agriculture, claimed that while the supply position to meet all requirements of the State was satisfactory, it might be expected that the price levels would not only not go higher but there was the likelihood of a fall in prices with the coming in of the kuruvai harvest.
