Left, UNPA to meet President

NEW DELHI: The Left parties, the Bahujan Samaj Party, the Janata Dal (Secular) and the United National Progressive Alliance will meet President Pratibha Devisingh Patil on Tuesday to press for convening the monsoon session of Parliament at the earliest.
Briefing journalists here, K. Yerrannaidu of the Telugu Desam Party — a key constituent of the UNPA — accused the government of avoiding its accountability to the people by postponing the session and merging it with the winter session.
“No government has sought to avoid Parliament in such a fashion,” Mr. Yerrannaidu charged.
