SMS to get blood stock data

CHENNAI: Airtel has enlarged the scope of its tie up with Jeevan Blood Bank in Chennai to provide round-the-clock access to blood stock data for mobile users across service providers.

The SMS service, rolled out as part of the “Airtel Cares for Everyone” project, allows users to send message to 96000 97000 for acquiring information immediately on a response message.

For instance, the user has to type <Blood group + or -> to get feedback on readily available tested blood components of the chosen group. The messaging service is toll free only for Airtel users.

To follow up, users can call Jeevan Blood Bank on 28351200 or 43524242. Anirban Ghosh, COO (Mobile services), Airtel, said that the service would benefit people in urgent need of blood.
