KOCHI: Kerala State Electricity Board has revised the quota of electricity allotted to Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT) following imposition of 25 per cent power cut on extra high tension consumers. The Electricity Board’s action was in the wake of FACT taking up the issue of an earlier imposition of restrictions on drawing power-based on the fertilizer company’s power consumption during 2007-08, which, a company spokesman said, was relatively low as the major plants were shutdown for several months. The revision of the power allocation now allows FACT’s Udyogamandal Division to draw up to 49.07 lakh units and the Ambalamedu Division to draw up to 44.67 lakh units a month. The revised power allocation has been based on FACT’s power consumption during 2006-07. Before the present revision was made, the FACT was actually saddled with an effective 45 per cent electricity cut, the monthly power quota being 33.9 lakh units and 31.19 lakh units respectively for the FACT’s Udyogamandal and Ambalamedu divisions, respectively.
