Pavadi school faces severe space constraints Additional funds allotted for infrastructure
New facilities: Additional buildings coming up at Pavadi Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School in Salem. — SALEM: The construction of additional buildings in the Pavadi Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School here is nearing completion. The Salem Corporation has taken up construction of the buildings for classrooms and toilets at an estimated cost of Rs. 17 lakh as part of its education development programme. The school, which has over 1,500 children on its rolls, is now facing severe space constraints. ProblemsA few of the existing classrooms in the branch school are in a dilapidated state and hence pose problems for students who study there. The roofs of these classrooms leak during the rainy season. This has adversely affected academic activities, teachers here point out. The Corporation had allotted more funds in the current fiscal for improving the infrastructure facilities in its schools in the city. Officials here in Salem said that additional buildings would be constructed in other schools in a phased manner. The facilities in the Corporation schools would be improved on a par with the private schools, the officials added.
