VIZIANAGARAM: District Collector G. Ramnarayana Reddy has said that the second phase of mop-up pulse polio will be conducted on September 14 and asked the officials concerned to ensure immunisation of all the targeted children in the age group of 0-5 years. Reviewing arrangements with medical and health officials, he said that arrangements at 1,500 centres were made and 1,500 teams in addition to 66 mobile and 25 transit teams were arranged to immunise 2,64,220 children in the district. He asked them to pay special attention in fishermen villages and hill top tribal hamlets. He said that the teams would also visit door-to-door on September 15 and 16 to immunise children left out at the centres. He said that teams would also be deployed at railway stations and bus complexes to administer polio drops to the children on the move. He said that no polio case was reported till recently. District Medical and Health Officer Ch. Mahesh, district Leprosy Officer S. Chandra Reddy, Project Director of Women and Child Welfare Department J.M.J. Komali, District Immunisation Officer Varalakshmi and others were present. Rajiv Yuva ShaktiDistrict Collector G. Ram Narayana Reddy has said that in order to provide employment to 1185 youths under Rajiv Yuva Shakti, it was targetted to sanction 1065 units with Rs.7.40 crores during the current fiscal. Of the sum, subsidy is Rs.118.25 lakhs, bankers’ share Rs.547.75 lakhs and beneficiaries’ contribution Rs.74 lakhs. At a review meeting with members of the programme selection committee on Thursday, the Collector instructed them to achieve the targets. Chief Executive Officer of SETVIZ R. Tyagaraju said that proposals were submitted following representations received so far from 22 mandals for sanctioning of 349 units at Rs.227.90 lakhs for the benefit of 363 youths. SubsidyHe said out of the amount the subsidy would be Rs.45.58 lakhs, bankers’ share Rs.159.53 lakhs and beneficiaries’ contribution Rs.22.79 lakhs. The selection committee later approved the proposals for grounding 349 units.
