Mar Thoma Church office-bearers

PATHANAMTHITTA: A three-day meeting of the 1,432-member Mar Thoma Sabha Pratinidhi Mandalam which concluded on Thursday elected new church secretary, clergy trustee and lay trustee for the next three years.

Fr. K.S. Mathew, Principal, Episcopal Jubilee Institute, Kombady, Thiruvalla, was elected church secretary. He won the poll by defeating Fr. P.T. Thomas by a margin of 72 votes. Fr. Varghese Thomas won the post of clergy trustee by defeating Fr. T.A. Koshy by 148 votes. K. Varghese, chartered accountant, won the election to the post of lay trustee defeating his nearest rival P.P. Achenkunju by 299 votes. The mandalam also elected a 13-member clergy selection committee. They are Fr. George Mathew, Fr. K.A. Abraham, Fr. Jose Punamadhom, Fr. Samson M. Jacob, Fr. T.S. Thomas, Royce Mallassery, T.M. Koshy, Gijy Mathew Scaria, Abraham Joseph, Kusum Itty, Prakash C. Thomas, C. Mamachan and A.G. George.
