“Use IT to improve administrative efficiency”

Special Correspondent

VELLORE: The Central and State governments should improve their administrative efficiency by using Information Technology solutions and services, G. Viswanathan, Chancellor of the VIT University, said here on Friday.

Presenting the ISO 9001:2000 certificate awarded by the Accredited Society of Certifying Bodies (ASCB)-Europe to the Moxie Tech Pvt Ltd at a function got up on the company premises, Mr. Viswanathan said he could not understand why the government had not improved its administrative efficiency despite the availability of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) and other IT solutions. Delays still continue in the matter of grant of licences and other forms of approvals in the government sector. It took about two years for a person to obtain a building licence from the government.

“Delay breeds corruption, and it is possible for the government to reduce delays by using ICT and IT. If the government is not going to improve its administrative efficiency in this IT era, when is it going to do it”? he asked.

Appreciating Moxie Tech Pvt. Ltd. for providing IT solutions both for the engineering and health sectors, he called upon the company to develop software to cater to all kinds of applications and market them throughout the world.

He said that the VIT University and Sri Narayani Hospital & Research Centre had recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding for research in the areas of biotechnology and biomedical engineering.

L. Dinesh, vice-president, Moxie Tech Pvt. Ltd., received the certificate from Mr. Viswanathan.

C. Gnanasekharan, Vellore MLA, who launched ‘Citrine,’ the Moxie Enterprise Management System, requested the company to provide software for the preparation of voters’ slips during the elections. At present, the preparation of voters’ slips had to be done manually and this was a difficult task for the candidates during the election campaign, he said.

N. Balaji, director, Sri Narayani Hospital & Research Centre, Thirumalaikkodi, Vellore, who launched ‘Maximize,’ Moxie’s Quality Management System, said the administration of the hospital had improved after it utilised the hospital management software provided by Moxie Tech Pvt. Ltd. The Sri Narayani Peedam has plans to entrust to the company the preparation of software for the administration of Sripuram, he said.
