Sonia drawing huge crowds no big deal: Naidu

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday sought to play down the large attendance at AICC president Sonia Gandhi’s public meeting at Anantapur saying the turnout of people cannot be a yardstick to measure electoral performance.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Naidu said if the Telugu Desam Party could have afforded Rs. 20 crore, misused official machinery and diverted RTC buses as was done by the Congress, it would have mobilised more crowds.

He said it was no big deal considering that each one in the crowd was given money, biryani packet, water sachet and a cheap liquor bottle.
