This Day That Age
Pakistanis violated the Indian border on the Assam-East Pakistan boundary on the afternoon of September 10, even as the two Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan had nearly arrived at an agreement in their talks to put an end to border disputes. According to official information available in Silchar, on September 10 Pakistani forces opened fire at Dimcherra in the Patharia reserve forest about 65 miles from Silchar and maintained their battery for half-an-hour. The Indian border guards did not reply, honouring the cease-fire ordered by the two Prime Ministers a few days before their talks began.
