Corrections and clarifications

The fourth paragraph in a box report “300% pay hike for President” (September 12, 2008) was “Official sources said the hike would be effective from January 2006, the date from which the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations would be implemented.” There were queries on this quoting a number of newspapers and websites that gave the year as 2007. The detail “January 2006” is right.

The Navaratri Mandapam concerts, at Thiruvananthapuram, begin on September 30 and conclude on October 8, 2008. The lead story “Tradition redefined” (Friday Review, September 12, 2008, page 1), on the concerts, incorrectly reported the schedule as from October 30 to November 8, 2008.
