Plans new range of cars in 2010 Opens showroom in New Delhi
OPULENCE: A Rolls Royce Phantom is displayed at the opening of a Rolls Royce Motor Cars showroom in New Delhi on Friday. NEW DELHI: Premium car manufacturer Rolls-Royce Motor Cars on Friday said it would launch its new model Phantom Coupe this year. Expanding its presence in the country after Mumbai, it has now opened its second showroom here. Price rangeRolls-Royce is also working on the new range of cars that will be introduced in India along with other global markets by mid-2010. “We will launch Phantom Coupe this year that is likely to be priced around Rs.3.5 crore,” said Graeme Grieve, Director (Sales and Marketing), Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, at the opening ceremony of the new showroom. “As per our brand expansion strategy, we will launch new range of cars in 2010. But that would not compete with the Phantom brand. The new model will be the second most expensive in the world,” he added. Talking about the Indian market, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars General Manager (South and East Asia Pacific) Matthew J. Bennett said they had so far sold about 30 cars, including 12 units last year. “This year we have already sold 12 cars and hope so sell at least 20 this year,” he added. With a new model and a new dealership, Rolls-Royce is looking at sales growing 25-40 per cent per year over the next four to five years. In India, Rolls-Royce, a BMW group company, offers three products — Phantom, Phantom EWB and Phantom Drophead Coupe — priced at Rs. 3.15 crore (ex-showroom) upwards. Rolls-Royce, favoured by Indian royalty in the days of the British Raj, returned in 2005 after a gap of 50 years with the Phantom super luxury sedan. Globally, Rolls-Royce sold 1,010 cars through 82 dealers in 2007.
