Man washed away in river

Staff Reporter

ADILABAD: Thirty-year-old Soyam Bheem Rao of Madhapur in Neredigonda mandal was washed away in Kadem river on Friday when he was crossing the swollen river. He had set out to go to Waghdhari village in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, Maruti cheruvu at Kothalgaon village of Bhainsa mandal breached at two places following heavy inflows causing water-logging in an estimated 200 acres of cotton and paddy crop.

Bhainsa and Kuntala mandals recorded 164 and 153 mm of rainfall at 8 a.m. on Friday as heavy rain lashed the area on Thursday night. Three gates of the Gaddennavgu project were lifted on Friday morning due to heavy inflows into the dam. As a result, water flowed over the bridge connecting Bhainsa with Mudhole, thereby hindering traffic flow for sometime.
