3 electrocuted during idol immersion

ADILABAD: Two persons in Nirmal town and one in Adilabad died after coming in contact with live power lines late on Thursday during immersion of Ganesh idols.
Sunkera Bhumaiam, 21, and Balaji, 30, were electrocuted when an overhead power cable snapped and fell on the tractor in which the idol was being taken for immersion. Peddakonda Bheemanna, 55, and Dashrath, member of the accompanying band, who were injured, were admitted to hospital.
In Adilabad, Pradeep, 22, son of a police constable, was electrocuted when he came in contact with power cable under which he was decorating the idol in a tractor.
Ex gratia
Adilabad Member of Parliament A. Indrakaran Reddy announced Rs. 10,000 ex gratia to those who died and Rs. 5,000 for the injured.
He said they would also be given relief under the ‘Apatbandhu’ scheme.
