SANGAREDDY: The Medak police have arrested two persons -- Jaheed and Akurar -- in the murder case of Vinjam Sridhar Rao, who was strangulated to death on September 1 in the city limits.
Speaking to reporters here on Friday, SP Mohd. Iqbal said that Jaheed and Akurar, natives of Aurangabad village in Padauli district of Uttar Pradesh, were working as daily wage labourers for a contractor Reddy, who asked them to work for Sridhar Rao.
On September 1, Sridhar Rao went to his brick kiln at 2.30 p.m. did not turn.
His son Venkateswara Rao went searching for his father and found his body in a pit near Arya Pharmacy College. He lodged a complaint with the police. Some cash, the two-wheeler of the deceased and his cell phone were missing. Suspecting involvement of the labourers from Uttar Pradesh, the police sent a special team led by Rural SI Harichandra Reddy to Uttar Pradesh for investigation. Both the accused were arrested with the help of the local police. Iqbal said that their motive was only to rob Sridhar Rao, but they killed him fearing that he would identify them. The accused took away the cell phone, the motor cycle and Rs. 14,000 in cash from the victim.
