Health programme in schools

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The School Health Programme started a year ago in various schools under the Central Board of Secondary Education in the State has identified learning disabilities, lack of attention and concentration, psychological as well as scholastic problems, speech and language problems, obesity, anaemia, nutritional deficiency and hearing loss among children.

The programme, conducted by MedVista Healthcare Solutions, provides health reports of children that can be accessed through the web portal of the company through a customer ID and password. While implementing the programme, the medical experts who visit the school provide guidance for any further treatment that might be required in certain cases.

The programme evaluates the child’s physical and cognitive development and determines whether it is age appropriate. Among the cognitive assessment, brain function, attention and orientation, memory, social judgement, pragmatic skills and abstract ability are assessed.
