MADURAI: Water release for irrigating the single crop area and the second crop of double crop area from Vaigai dam is all set to release on schedule, September 15. Water could be released for the single crop on or after September 15, if the Periyar credit touched 6,000 mcft. The Periyar credit crossed this mark on Thursday. It stood at 6,216 mcft on Friday. Water level in Periyar dam stood at 125.10 feet ( 136 feet) with an inflow of 2,131 cusecs and a discharge of 1,450 cusecs. The level in the Vaigai dam was 66.11 feet (71 feet).
