Mahesh wanted help in clearing medical bills
He had injured his foot in an accident

BANGALORE: A 20-year-old student who wanted to meet Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to seek aid to help him clear his medical bills was punched in the face several times by the police.

The incident occurred at the venue of Bharatiya Janata Party national executive meeting, which was off limits to everybody, including the media.

Injury

Mahesh (20) of Sira taluk in Tumkur district, who had injured his left foot a month ago in an accident, wanted Mr. Yeddyurappa’s help to clear the dues of Rs. 30,000 for his treatment at the Kempe Gowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS).

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) G .Ramesh, Mr. Mahesh ventured into the venue at Hotel Chancery unauthorisedly.

“He misused the pass which was in the name of a sub-inspector,” Mr. Ramesh said.

Evicted

Policemen at the security checks noticed Mr. Mahesh and evicted him.

Even as he was being bundled away, a policeman punched him several times in the face, ignoring Mr. Mahesh’s explanation.

Mr. Mahesh was questioned and released later.
