SANGAREDDY: The district officials have yet to estimate the loss caused due to heavy rain in some parts of the district in the past two days. As some of the tanks at Narayankhed and Zaheerabad are overflowing, officials are waiting for the water to recede. It was expected that the crop loss would be around 15,000 acres in both these areas. According to reports reaching here, about 200 houses were damaged and people in some low lying colonies were shifted as a precautionary measure. Zaheerabad mandal tahasildar L. Govind informed The Hindu that the loss would be heavy if there was heavy rain again due to impending low pressure in the next 24 hours. He, however, said that the crop loss to the farmers would be compensated, according to norms, only if it was more than 60 per cent. District Revenue Officer D.S.V.V.S. Murthy said that officials would visit the areas and estimate the loss in the next week.
