Award for NTPC Talcher

BHUBANESWAR: NTPC Talcher Thermal Power Station on Saturday said that it bagged the prestigious Pollution Control Excellence Award-2008, constituted by the State Pollution Control Board of Orissa.

The power station won this award under the category of large and medium scale industry for adoption of effective pollution control measures and excellent environment management practices, the company said.

The award would be presented on the occasion of silver jubilee celebration of the Pollution Control Board on Sunday.

On the environment management front, for the first time in the country, mine back filling had been taken up by this station of NTPC Limited to dispose off ash, the company claimed.
