Man dies in accident, lorry set on fire

BANGALORE: Tension prevailed for a while near Tataguni estate on Kanakapura Road when a mob set on fire a sand-laden lorry following the death of a 26-year-old farmer on Friday.

The police said the lorry bound for Bangalore, hit the motorcycle driven by Mahesh of Vodakatte village. Mahesh and his friend Prabhakar (26) were on their way to Kanakapura when the accident occurred. While Mahesh died on the spot, Prabhakar has been hospitalised. Passers-by turned their ire on the lorry driver who fled. The mob then set the lorry on fire.

Arrested

The Upparpet police on Thursday arrested two persons for allegedly possessing 870 gm of brown sugar. The police said the duo werefound selling brown sugar in Tulasi Park.

Found dead

A 60-year-old woman was found dead in her house in Kaggalipura on Thursday.
