He was awarded the ‘CII Connect 2008 Entrepreneur’s Award’ in the category of ‘An entrepreneur from Tamil Nadu successful in Tamil Nadu’, by B. Ramalinga Raju, Founder and Chairman, Satyam Computer Services, here on Saturday. Entrepreneurship awards in five such categories were given to those who made a significant difference in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry during the final day of the Connect 2008 event. Gopal Srinivasan, Immediate Past Chairman, CII Tamil Nadu, said the awards were based on parameters such as leadership, business performance and impact on society. K.B. Chandrasekhar, an Electronics Engineer from Anna University, was given the award for ‘Global Impact’. For his role in creating technology to help rural India, Ashok Jhunjhunwala, Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT-M, was given the ‘ICT Ecosystem’ award. The award for an ‘Entrepreneur from another state successful in Tamil Nadu’ was given to Satya Prabhakar, Founder and Managing Director, Sulekha.com.
