HYDERABAD: The Congress party launched a full-fledged attack on the Praja Rajyam Party targeting its president Chiranjeevi on Saturday. The party made light of his remarks that people’s development had taken a backseat and leaders were worried about their personal development. In its sharpest ever attack on the fledgling party and its chief, Information Minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy and others, at a press conference here, challenged Mr. Chiranjeevi to come for an open debate on the development in the State. “A person, who is yet to unmask his face, cannot make irresponsible statements against leaders,” the Minister said. Contribution to societySpecifically targeting the actor, Mr. Ramnarayan Reddy sought to know what his contribution was to society. “The actor lacks awareness about the happenings in the State and the developmental programmes undertaken by the Congress government,” he said. “Let him introspect whether he has benefited from the film industry or the industry has benefited from his service,” the Minister said. He derided the claim of the actor that he had left behind a lucrative career to take a plunge into public life, for he had ensured the growth of his kith and kin in the industry. He said the actor had never bothered about the people or the film industry in the last three decades. “Now, claiming that he is concerned about the people only shows his lack of understanding about the ground reality,” he remarked.
