HYDERABAD: Two days ahead of the State Assembly taking up the first-of-its-kind no confidence motion against Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy, the ruling Congress, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) began to fine-tune their strategies. A special session of the Assembly has been convened on September 15 after the TDP and TRS members submitted separate motions of no confidence against the Speaker. The session will start at 11 a.m. with the Deputy Speaker reading out the notice of no confidence and asking at least 50 members in the House of 290 (there are five vacancies) to support the motion before placing it for discussion and for vote. The TDP has 45 members after the suspension of Addanki MLA Karanam Balaramakrishna Murthy while the TRS’ strength is seven, excluding the 10 rebels. Floor coordinationWith the TDP and the TRS preferring floor coordination, the CLP has decided to see that the suspended TDP member is not allowed to attend the special session. A team of Congress MLAs led by Gade Venkat Reddy, who is also the chairman of the Privileges Committee that recommended six-month suspension, met Legislature Secretary K. Tulajanand Singh and asked him not to allow Mr. Murthy to attend the session. Party sources said that the Congress has lined up at least 10 members including Government Chief Whip N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Mr. Gade Venkat Reddy, Md. Ali Shabbir, Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao and D. Manikya Varaprasad to take on the TDP.
