No trust motion against Speaker: TRS issues whip

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) on Saturday issued a whip to seven members loyal to the party and ten rebels to be present at the special session of the Assembly on Monday and vote in favour of the resolution of no-confidence to come up against Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy.

The TRS had issued a notice of no-confidence against the Speaker resenting the delay by the latter in disqualifying the 10 rebel MLAs under provisions of the anti-defection law for proposing and voting in favour of a candidate of another party in the Legislative Council elections last year. The whip was issued by V. Laxmikantha Rao.

The legislature party leader Eatala Rajender will move the resolution and explain the party’s position why it was aggrieved with the Speaker.

Rebels’ strategy

Meanwhile, the rebel MLAs stated that they would decide their strategy for the session on Sunday. Sources said they would attend the House and vote against the resolution, as they could not be considered members of TRS. After all, this was precisely their argument before the Speaker in the case of disqualification which had been pending before him.

Sources also said the legislature party would press for the resolution in spite of the fact that the Speaker belonged to Telangana. The party nursed a grouse against him because he had failed to do justice though all evidence was produced to him in support of its argument that the rebels were liable for disqualification.
