Central team arriving

DAVANGERE: A Central team will be visiting the State soon to assess drought situation, crop loss and rain failure, said S.A. Ravindranath, Minister for Agriculture. The Minister told presspersons here on Saturday that a delegation of ministers from Karnataka had met the Union Minister of Home Shivaraj Patil and Union Minister for Agriculture Sharad Pawar and apprised them of the drought situation and recent flood havoc in Karnataka. The team led by Revenue Minister Karunakara Reddy had appealed to the Centre to release an amount of Rs. 1,100 crore for drought and Rs. 360 crore to take up flood relief measures. — Staff Correspondent
