JAIPUR: Rajasthan Medical and Health Minister Narpat Singh Rajvi has underlined the need for undertaking research and development activities in Ayurveda in view of its “increasing popularity and demand” and to benefit the poor people. Inaugurating an Ayurveda fair, “Ayush-2008”, here on Friday, Mr. Rajvi said the tribal regions in southern parts of the State, where medical facilities were not easily available, still depended on herbs for treatment of patients. “Research on medicinal and aromatic plants available in the tribal-dominated areas will go a long way in developing the Ayurveda discipline for the benefit of masses,” said Mr. Rajvi, adding that the State Government had initiated steps to expand the facilities in the Indian systems of medicine.
