CHANDIGARH: Haryana Irrigation Minister Ajay Singh Yadav on Saturday said the Bhupinder Singh Hooda regime in Haryana had formulated strategies to increase the availability of power from 4,068 MW in 2005 to 9,293 MW by the end of the 11th Five Year Plan and 14,471 MW by 2013-14 keeping in view the annual energy demand of 57,000 million units in the State. Addressing the third International Exhibition-cum-Conference on ‘Indian Power Sector: Holistic Capacity Building,’ organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FICCI) in New Delhi, he said power-generating projects were being completed on war-footing in Haryana. After commissioning of two units of 300 MW each at Deen Bandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Project, Yamunanagar, recently, two units of 600 MW each of Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Plant, Khedar (Hisar), were scheduled for commissioning in November 2009 and February 2010. He added that the 1500-MW Indira Gandhi Super Thermal Power Plant at Jharli (Jhajjar) was scheduled for commissioning before the Commonwealth Games in 2010. He hoped that Haryana would become a power surplus State during the 12th Plan.
