CHENNAI: The State government has declared September 15 a public holiday on account of former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai’s birth centenary. All government offices, educational institutions, government-run organisations and boards, offices of local bodies, banks, including cooperative banks and public undertakings in the State will remain closed under the Negotiable Instruments Act, says a government release. Chief Justice A.K. Ganguly has declared that September 15 will be a holiday for the Madras High Court, both in the Principal Seat here and the Madurai Bench, and all subordinate courts in Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry. The State Government has also requested all other organisations and institutions to recognise the importance of the event and declare a holiday on Monday. School examinationsAsked about the change in the schedule of the ongoing quarterly examinations in schools, a senior official in the Directorate of School Education said Monday’s examination would be postponed. The examination on Tuesday would be held as per the schedule. Chief Educational Officers (CEOs) in districts would decide on the new date for conduct of Monday’s examination and communicate the decision to all schools in the respective districts, the official said.
