Scant respect for senior citizens

Senior citizens are not getting the respect they deserve. At the railway reservation counter, they are forced to stand in queue meant for them along with other youth who claim to be there on behalf of their elderly relatives. This is not fair as the queue is exclusively meant for the convenience of senior citizens. Similarly, in buses, no youngster gets up to offer seat to the aged person standing next to them. Similar is the situation in banks, were senior citizens are forced to wait for their turn.

Supply sugar-free laddus

Nearly 20 per cent of the devotees visiting Tirumala are either diabetic or high blood pressure patients. After darshan, they cannot avoid laddu prasadam. I suggest that sugar-free laddus be supplied by charging a little extra.

Mend this ATM

Consumers and residents of Sagarnagar VUDA Township are inconvenienced as the ATM belonging to the State Bank of Hyderabad does not function quite often due to reasons known only to the bank. On holidays, sufficient money is not kept to meet the needs of accountholders, defeating the very purpose of setting up the facility. I appeal to the authorities to take corrective action.

Chaos on road

Vehicular traffic on roads is alarming. The police have failed to regulate traffic at busy centres. Consequently, people are finding it extremely difficult to venture onto the roads. The signal systems on the main bazaar road, at the masjid and the zilla parishad crossroads do not function properly. No action is being taken against hawkers who have encroached the entire bazaar road, from the masjid to Jagannaickpur bridge. Parking of vehicles up to the middle of the road is causing congestion on the main road near the Axis Bank.

No constable is seen to regulate traffic, leave alone clearing the road of vehicles at unauthorised places.

Utter chaos prevails at the temple street, Ramaraopeta, Gandhinagar and Indrapalem bridge. The authorities should visit the traffic centres and take appropriate measures.

Poor facilities in library

Lighting is poor and inadequate both in papers’ wing and reference wing of the library maintained by the Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha located on the main road.

The chairs in the reference section are old with splinters of wood causing injury to the visitors.

I request the secretary of the ZGS to provide fans and tube-lights besides new chairs in the reference section.
