Seeking action: Christians staging a protest in Bangalore on Sunday. BANGALORE: Condemning the attacks on the Christians in Orissa, the community members in the city staged a protest on Sunday urging the Union Government to put an end to such attacks. The protest was organised by All India Christian People’s Party and Human Rights Protection. The protesters said that they did not condemn any other religion for the attacks and sought protection for Christians. They said that people should not be denied their right to freedom of religion. H.T. Sangliana, MP, told The Hindu that it was unfortunate that governments had not taken action against those involved in the attacks on Christians. Mr. Sangliana condemned the attacks on the prayer halls in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Chikmagalur districts on Sunday. He said that the attacks were pre-planned. Fearing that there were plans for such attacks in other districts, he alleged that it was self-appointed religious policing by the Sangh Parivar.
