Bangalore: East Public Action Group, working in partnership with Child Rights and You, celebrated “Makkala Habba” on Sunday at Ambedkar Nagar Slum near GM Palya. This event brought together children who go to anganwadi centres and schools, their parents and government officials on a common platform to deliberate on various issues. Ex-councillor Narayana Swamy and officials concerned with the Integrated Child Development Scheme participated in the event. As part of the event, there were cultural programmes by children and volunteers to raise awareness on the services and problems of anganwadi centres. The anganwadi volunteers submitted a charter of demands to the officials concerned. The next “Makkala Habba” will be held near National Games Village, Koramangla, on September 27.
