Wedding bells at After Care Home

MARRIAGE PHOTO: Five inmates of the Aftercare Home of the Social Welfare Department got married in Kozhikode on Monday.

Kozhikode: Five occupants of the Aftercare Home, under the Social Welfare Department, tied the knot at a function held on the premises of the Home at Vellimadu Kunnu, near here, on Monday. Political leaders, cultural activists and government representatives attended the function.

Devi, 23; Haseena, 23; Sheena, 20; Reshma Lal, 19; and Karuppamma, 32; were the ones who tied the knot. The bridegrooms of all the five women are from Kozhikode and Wayanad. Mannil Muhammed, a Kozhikode-based industrialist, presented 10 sovereigns each to the couples as wedding gift. The Department of Social Welfare gave them Rs.10,000 each.

Mayor M. Bhaskaran, P.M.A. Salam, MLA, District Collector A. Jayathilak, district panchayat president P. Kunhammedkutty and Women’s Commission member T. Devi, among others, attended the ceremony.
