Modernisation work to cost nearly Rs. 10 crore MYSORE: Minister for Transport R. Ashok on Monday inspected the mofussil bus station of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) which will be modernised under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). He was accompanied by people’ representatives and KSRTC officials. He issued instructions to the officers about the works to be carried out after Dasara. Mr. Ashok, who was here to participate in the Engineers’ Day function organised by the Institution of Engineers, said that the modernisation work of the bus station would cost about Rs. 10 crore. The demolition of the infrastructure at the bus station, which was located on 4.5 acres of land, would be done after Dasara, he said. The new bus station would provide sufficient space for parking, he said. The Minister also inspected buses and directed the officials to ensure cleanliness in the buses. He also inspected the toilet complex at the bus station. The Minister directed the Divisional Controller to seek an explanation from the contractors regarding the poor condition of toilets. The passengers complained to the Minister that the user fee being collected for using the toilets was high.
