Thiruvananthapuram: A committee has been constituted for setting up Ayyappa Seva Kendras for providing facilities and services to Sabarimala pilgrims at resting places on the trekking path during the coming Mandalam and Makaravilakku seasons. The scheme will be implemented with the help of District Cooperative Banks. Devaswom Minister G. Sudhakaran will be the chairman of the committee. The president of the State Cooperative Bank is the working chairman and the Registrar of Cooperative Societies is the convener. The Managing Director of the State Cooperative Bank, the presidents and general managers of the District Cooperative Banks of Alappuzha, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Kollam and the president or general secretary of the Kerala Primary Cooperative Societies Association will be its members. PatronageSome 6,33,200 pilgrims had utilised the facilities (including snacks, drinking water, primary medical aid etc) in the six resting centres set up at a cost of Rs.10 lakh last year. More facilities would be provided at these centres this year, a press release issued here on Monday said. A sevana sahaya committee had been constituted for providing similar services to pilgrims in resting places under the Guruvayur Devaswom. The Devaswom Minister is the chairman of the committee. The Guruvayur Devaswom president is its working chairman and Devaswom Administrator is the convener. Additional Chief Secretary K. Jayakumar is a special invitee. Guruvayoor Devaswom Commissioner Sarada Muralidharan and Guruvayaoor Devaswom managing committee members are the members of the committee.
