dated September 16, 1958: Visvesvaraya 98

Dr. Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya is 98 to-day. The career of Dr. Visvesvaraya, the Engineer-Statesman, has been unusually varied and extensive and during his period of office as Dewan of Mysore, he helped to modernise the State and has rightly been called the ‘Architect of Modern Mysore’. Tributes to the services rendered to Mysore in particular and to the country in general were paid to-day by the State Chief Minister, Mr. B.D. Jatti, and Mr. N.D. Sahukar, Chairman of the All-India Manufacturers’ Association (an organisation which Dr. Visvesvaraya founded in 1941 and of which he was President for a number of years) at a meeting held this morning to celebrate the birthday of this great Indian patriot.
