NEW DELHI: Social activists Ram Puniyani and Shabnam Hashmi on Monday urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to rise “above partisan attitude” and unravel the truth behind the blasts that were rocking the country at regular intervals. In an open letter to Dr. Singh, they demanded action against the guilty and pointed out that the investigating agencies were turning a blind eye to some “well-established facts,” particularly the role of the Bajrang Dal and the Hindu Jagran Samiti in some of the blasts. One instance the activists flagged were the April 2006 blasts in Nanded, Maharashtra, in which two Bajrang Dal activists died while making bombs. More recently, they said, two Bajrang Dal workers died while making bombs in Kanpur on August 24 this year. Lamenting that one particular minority community was targeted by the investigating agencies after every blast, the activists said: “If we look at the timing of the terror attacks, it is very clear that one and only one political outfit is gaining from it and that is the Sangh. With their eyes on the Central government, their agenda of polarising the voter is going ahead successfully.”
