HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Services Association called off its 11-day State-wide agitation after the government conceded their major demands on Tuesday. The strike was called off after the leaders of various Panchayat Raj associations held a meeting with Panchayat Raj Minister J.C. Diwakar Reddy here. The AP Panchayat Raj Services Association chairman Shaik Zamiullah represented the 80,000 employees. After the talks, the government issued an order for payment of salaries to the provincialised employees of Zilla and Mandal Parishads and gram panchayats under details head 010- salaries through treasuries with effect from April 1 next year. Earlier, the salaries were paid under the head 310-311 grant-in-aid. The other demands conceded by the government included creation of 70 posts of Divisional Development Officers to monitor the ongoing programmes in the rural development department. An equal number of posts would also be created in the Rural Development Department.
