VIZIANAGARAM: All India Radio, Visakhapatnam, as part of its annual ‘sangeet sammelan’, is organising a live show at the Ananda Gajapathi Auditorium here from 6.15 p.m. on September 20, according to Station Director Prayaga Vedavati. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Ms. Vedavati said that AIR had been conducting similar programmes in Hindustani and Carnatic music since 1954 at its various Akashavani Kendras. The performances given by noted artists would be recorded and relayed for some 40 days from 10 p.m. (Saturdays and Sundays from 9.30 p.m.) from October 25 from the New Delhi Kendra. The first concert would be by A. Chandan Kumar (flute) of Mysore, R.K. Sriram Kumar (violin), K. Arun Prakash (mridangam) and T.S. Souriranjan (morsing) – all from Chennai. The second concert begins at 7.30 p.m. It would be by Koviladi Madhya Prasad (vocal) from Trichy, V.V. Suresh (violin) from Tiruvananthapuram, Umayalpuram Mali (mridangam) from Chennai and V.S. Ramesh (morsing) from Mysore. The first concert recorded at the auditorium here would be relayed at 10 p.m. on October 31 and the second the same time on October 28, she said.
