Satyanarayana Rao formally launched work on the expansion and modernisation of the advance ticket reservation counters at the Dwaraka Bus Station (RTC complex) here on Tuesday. The number of counters would go up from the present eight to 11 to accommodate the Mee Seva Counters of the advanced reservation for long distance services and the single-stop service to Rajahmundry to meet the growing demand, Regional Manager N. Venkateswara Rao said. Advance and current reservation facility was being provided to a total of 116 special type services and non-stop services to different destinations from the city every day. At the non-stop service counters of the DBS, as many as 3,249 tickets were being sold for 4,741 seats every day and the revenue was Rs.2.44 lakhs. In the advanced booking counters for the long distance services and the Rajahmundry single stop and Kakinada non-stop services, 806 tickets were being issued for 1,159 seats and Rs.3.10 lakh was being collected. Mr. Satyanarayana Rao went round the RTC complex and examined the facilities. Later in the evening Mr. Satyanarayana Rao presented merit awards to employees of different departments, at a function organised at the Maddilapalem depot.
